چکیده
The increase in the number of discarded tires every year is becoming a major issue all over world. Tires stockpiles and landfills have become critical as they are considered fertile environment for breeding rats insects, real fire hazard that may take up to months extinguish occupy valuable, large area land. One safest effective ways recycling use them backfilling material, among different usages, civil engineering projects due their low unit weight specific gravity. However, any material construction industry, several properties must be evaluated, including shear strength stiffness parameters. Many factors control measured main factor known significant effect particle size. This paper focuses on evaluating size parameters six tire-derived aggregate (TDA) samples having sizes range between (9.5–101.6 mm) using large-scale direct machine. tests were conducted under three normal stresses: 50.1, 98.8 196.4 kPa constant shearing rate 0.5 mm/min. results this study showed an increasing angle internal friction maximum increases. Moreover, secant modulus also exhibited by Furthermore, equations estimate stress-strain curves Type A-TDA confidence levels developed, predictions compared with experimental assess suitability.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Particle Size Effect on Shear Strength of Granular Materials in Direct Shear Test
The effect of particle size on shear strength of granular materials are investigated using direct shear tests. Small direct shear test (60 mm by 60 mm by 24 mm deep) were conducted for particles passing the sieves with opening size of 2.36 mm. Meanwhile, particles passing the standard 20 mm sieves were tested using large direct shear test (300 mm by 300 mm by 200 mm deep). The large direct shea...
